Nalin DeSilva was born in Sri Lanka and raised in Papua New Guinea and Australia. At age nine, he won his first award in a national art competition. At age 15, he was exhibiting in juried art shows. His fascination for the human body and anatomy in particular, was prevalent at an early age, and led him to study the works of the Old Masters and the Brandywine illustrators of the early twentieth century, and from these artists, he established his technique.
Throughout his career as an artist, Nalin has donated his artwork to charitable organizations such as Shiela E’s Lil’ Angels Bunny Foundation, the Grammies, The Oscar De La Hoya Youth Foundation, the Los Angeles Dodgers Dream Foundation and various others. He has consulted on various theatrical projects such as Deep Impact, The X Files, Hercules, U.S. Marshalls, Pocahontas, Journey To A New World, and others, and his work is in galleries and private collections around the world.
